God's Perfect Timing: A lesson with Buck Denver

Phil Vischer has done it again! My personal favorite film-maker and inspiration has branched off and created a whole new incredible video series; aimed at teaching children but hitting the parents and adults on the way. Veggie Tales was brilliant; filled with creative songs, intriguing voices, and enchanting stories of the Bible. The mind and brilliance behind this mastery is back at work running his own show, and hitting the nail on the head. “What’s in the Bible” is a brilliant video series you NEED to buy for your children ( and young adults as well ). I popped in the DVD and COULDN'T turn it off. Educating and filled with the classic fun and goofiness that fills every Veggie Tales, "Whats in the Bible" is another classic series from a film-maker and teacher who has honed his craft.

Saving Christmas

What do you think of when you see Christmas decorations? Christmas trees, nativity sets, hot chocolate, Santa clause? Do you see Christ in every symbol? The reason for the season? Or do you see a holiday that was hijacked by mercantilism, greed and tradition. Do you have friends or family that chooses not to celebrate at all just because Christmas is a “pagan holiday”?

If so then I have a movie for you. In “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas”, Kirk goes behind the scenes, behind the music, behind the magic and mystery of the wonderful holiday and traditions to show us what we SHOULD be celebrating. Instead of being discouraged and giving up on a seemingly impossible day of political correctness, Kirk encourages Christians to redeem the day and celebrate the meaning behind the facade of wrapped boxes and sparkling trees of pine. What does a nutcracker have to do with Jesus anyway? How does Kris Kringle even dare tread on the sacred hearth of the nativity? And Jesus wasn't even born in December! “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas” may not have the answer- but it does have a perspective on the Christmas season that you will not want to miss!

This Christmas, have your family join Kirk Cameron’s family and dive headfirst into all the joy, dancing, celebration, feasting, imagination, and traditions that glorify the true “reason for the season.” “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas”  is an engaging story that provides a biblical basis for our time-honored traditions and celebrations, and the inspiration to stand strongly against a culture that wants to trivialize and eliminate the faith elements of this holy season. So take in the splendor; take in the majesty; take in the story. Take it all in… and let’s put Christ back in Christmas! “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas” is in theaters for a limited engagement beginning November 14 for two weeks only!

"Join me, and my family, and together let’s put Christ back into Christmas. We’ll dive head first into all of the joy, the dancing, the celebration, the feasting, the imagination and traditions that glorify the true reason for the season.”

Being a VIP

So let me start out by saying that I am a musician, a fan, and a critic of great music. When I first received Manic Drive’s CD, I did not have high expectations just because of the front cover.
I anticipated that the music was going to all be this overdriven, overly dark, repetitive nonsense that would never see the light of day again and remain in my closet. I was pleasantly surprised when I inserted the CD and cranked the
stereo. This album was completely unique and very uplifting. A little bit of everything, from “almost dance” to an “almost worship”. VIP is an album you will want to get your hands on. Unique songs with classic hymn lines such as “How great thou Art” established in new melodies and tones, this is a great collection of up-beat tunes for either the car or headphones.
I had never heard of Manic Drive before- but after this experience, I will be looking out for their next album and the next time they do a concert somewhat locally.
Keep up the good work #ManicDrive, You have some good tunes going, keep the world alive.

ABOUT THE BAND:
Manic Drive has been widely known as a Canadian band who always delivers a great show, but over the past few years and project releases, they have added to their extensive touring of Canadian and US markets multiple Billboard Top 10 & 20 singles on CHR & Christian Rock Radio. Manic Drive is clearly very intentional about reaching their generation and inspiring them to pursue a deeper walk with Christ and to get involved in changing the world they are inheriting. And they are uniquely equipped to do so. The band members, all in their early-mid twenties, have made sacrifices to pursue God’s call on their lives. Their life experience, spiritual maturity and ministry have opened doors to speak into the lives of their own generation and that is perhaps the most defining characteristic of this group of guys.

I'll Be Me; The Goodbye of a Legend

“Alzheimer’s is the cleverest thief, because she not only steals from you, but she steals the very thing you need to remember what’s been stolen.”

We have all had to patiently love someone who is suffering from Alzheimer's. My mom is actually dealing with the effects first hand as my grandfather is fighting the disease. It can be discouraging and at times fill us with frustration at either the individual or at the circumstances that are swirling around us. Life though, can give us hope when we hear story's of people who are fighting it or finding ways to fulfill their dreams despite the handicap. Such is the story of Glen Campbell. To be honest, I had never heard of Campbell before this; he was a little before my time and was probably hiding in the tail-feathers of the other famous musicians that he performed with. After reading and watching him, I feel that he is one of the musical-talented giants that I am starting to love, and a few records will probably be added to my collection soon.
In 2011, when Glen Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he joined forces with his family to fight the biggest battle of his life. Glen and his wife, Kim, made history by going public with the diagnosis – the first time a major American celebrity would share this experience with the world. The Campbell family then embarked on a short “Goodbye Tour,” but the three-week engagement turned into an emotional and triumphant 151-show nationwide tour de force.

This epic human drama about the undying bond between Glen and Kim, and their unwavering caring for each other, chronicles a story of love, resilience and the power of song.

“GLEN CAMPBELL…I’LL BE ME” is the true tale of how America’s greatest country star would not give up his music or his family, against all odds.

The film features those who know and love Glen, including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, The Edge, Paul McCartney, Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Chad Smith and Taylor Swift among many others. Rare vintage footage and extraordinary new performances of Glen’s most beloved hits immerse this moving cinematic account in the overwhelming talent of this humble family man. With joy and a tireless sense of humor, Glen and his family live each moment in the present while preparing for the future, all while playing their music to sold out venues on a star spangled voyage spanning the country from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl.
